Start here

Hi, I’m Emma.

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re a parent, carer, neurodivergent adult, or someone who’s just trying to make sense of the beautiful chaos life throws at us.

Either way — you’re in the right place.

Grab a cuppa and let me tell you what you’ll find here.

✨ What Calm Corners Is All About

I created this space because life — especially life with SEN, mental health hurdles, and kids who can outrun a staff team — can feel incredibly lonely.

This isn’t a perfect-parenting blog.

This is:

- the real stuff

- the funny bits

- the meltdowns

- the victories

- the “I might cry or laugh, I’m not sure yet” moments

- the honest conversations we never feel we’re allowed to have

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, guilty, exhausted, proud, confused, hopeful, heartbroken, or all of the above at once — welcome. You’re my people.

💬 What You’ll Find Here

You’ll see a mix of:

• Stories from raising Dean and Alex

The hilarious, the difficult, the heart-squeezing moments that shaped us.

• Gentle support for parents & carers

Understanding meltdowns, sensory needs, communication differences, emotional burnout, and everything in between.

• My own mental health journey

Bipolar, ADHD, anxiety — the messy truth of trying to parent while managing your own brain.

• Book updates

Sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes writing, and launch news for my upcoming book about our family’s journey.

• Resources and tools

Practical advice, sensory aids, communication tips, and anything else I find that might make your day even 3% easier.

🤍 What I Hope You Feel Here

I want Calm Corners to feel like walking into a warm kitchen where someone has already boiled the kettle for you.

A place where you don’t have to pretend everything is fine.

A place where humour and honesty live side by side.

A place where you can exhale and say,

"Okay… someone gets it."

Because I really do.

💛 I’m glad you’re here. Truly.

Wherever you are in your journey, whatever today looks like…

you’re not doing it alone.

Welcome to our little corner of calm.

— Emma
